Step 1 β Pick Your Vault Hunter
Choose based on playstyle, not tier lists. Every Vault Hunter can clear all content.
| Playstyle | Recommended Character | Strength |
|---|---|---|
| Run-and-gun, high damage | Damage-focused Hunter | Bossing, solo play |
| Pet / companion | Beastmaster / Pet Hunter | Solo survivability, revive support |
| Elemental / status effects | Siren / Elemental Hunter | Crowd control, DoT damage |
| Support / team | Support-focused Hunter | Co-op, raid groups |
Step 2 β Understand the Gear System
- Weapon levels matter more than rarity: A green gun 3 levels above you beats a legendary 10 levels below.
- Elements matter: Match element to enemy type (fire vs flesh, shock vs shields, corrosive vs armor).
- Don't hoard early: Weapons out-level fast. Sell or drop gear you're not using β bank space is limited.
Step 3 β Leveling Roadmap (Lv1-30)
- Lv 1-10: Follow main story. Try every weapon type. Pick up all side quests for XP.
- Lv 10-20: Invest in 1 skill tree. Start matching elements. Keep a shock weapon for shields.
- Lv 20-30: Respect into your build. Farm the first Vault boss for early legendaries.
Step 4 β Start Farming Legendaries
- First legendary farm: main story Vault bosses β 1-3 legendaries per kill, respawn on reload.
- Prioritize a legendary class mod and shield before weapons β they provide build-enabling effects.
- Use Shift Codes from Gearbox socials for Golden Keys (guaranteed purple+ drops).
